Prayer & Praise is held on the fourth Friday of the month at 7:30pm in the church.
Know Your Bible: has been a continuous Bible Study at St Barnabas for over 30 years. KYB Bible studies are prepared by CWCI Australia (formerly Christian Women Communicating International) an international, evangelical women’s ministry which began in Australia and is known for its dynamic Bible teaching and relevance to life issues in the 21st century. Please call the parish office to find out our meeting time and location.
Care & Share Group: A group of ladies and men meet on the second Monday of each month in the parish hall to care for and share interests with one another as well as other community members. A brief business meeting is held at 9.30 am followed by morning tea with a varied programme to follow be it a talk on a local topic or entertainment by local choirs which are very popular. Usually the Care & Share Group have two “picnic” outings annually to various beauty spots, and enjoying a picnic lunch. A couple of times in the year we have a “fun and games” morning which is enjoyed by all. A Committee Member collects members from the three retirement villages nearby. A “Bring & Buy” stall is held at our November meeting and some of the money raised is given towards specific requirements of the Parish.
Mothers Union: The purpose of this group is the advancement of Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and to help promote conditions in society favourable to a stable family life and the protection of children. We also uphold Christ’s teaching and encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church. M.U. conducts a number of activities including social gatherings, guest speakers, prayer, craft activities and community support visits. Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month following the 9.30 am Service.
Ladies Breakfast Groups: meet on the second Saturday of each month at 7a.m. for breakfast. The Saturday meeting was commenced about 20 years ago by Lorene Noble who realized the need for working women who needed fellowship, but were restricted by family commitments. There were about 10 in the original group and this has grown until we now have 60 members. The ideal number being about 8-10 the groups have, by necessity, had to split several times. Each group has a leader and a “hostess” for want of a better word, but someone who is prepared to open their home each month and set up for a simple breakfast of fresh fruit salad (prepared on a roster basis), a bread roll and butter/jam, coffee and tea. In December each year, we all join together for a communal breakfast in the hall after a special service in church. The format of each group is slightly different also; Some do a bible study after chatting over breakfast, and some spend the time in listening and sharing problems and praying.
Stamping Group: holds card making sessions on the first Wednesday of each month.
Pastoral Care Team: provides home and hospital visits to people in need as required. We meet on the third Thursday of each month at 1:45 pm.
Alpha Courses: are run periodically by the Parish.
Missionaries: Rev John Naumann (Tanzania) and Sylvia Jeanes (Sabah) receive financial and spiritual support from our parish.
